Reiki Teacher Credentials

Margo Dai Sensei has an extensive background as a former high school and college English professor, and she has been teaching Reiki since 2003, enriching over 300 students’ lives, including nurses, therapists, and doctors. Not only has she authored all four levels of Reiki student manuals that are available for purchase on our site, but she has also been a prolific contributor to various publications about Reiki both online and in North Carolina and Virginia. Margo’s Reiki Master Teacher lineage traces back to Catherine Phillips, to Mrs. Takata, and ultimately to Usui Sensei, with additional lineage from two other Reiki Master-teachers.

Understanding Reiki

Usui Reiki is a form of energy and touch therapy—or sometimes non-touch—originally founded by Dr. Usui Mikao in 1914. The practice of Reiki draws upon ancient techniques believed to be used by the Medicine Buddha many thousands of years ago. Today, it is recognized globally as a revered form of energy work. Basic Reiki information:

• Training is a lifelong gift, offering a permanent skill where no renewal is necessary.
• Progress through the levels in order: first, second, master, or master teacher degree.
• Use the skills learned for self-treatment, or to help others, including pets, friends, and family.

Time Length Studying

The timeline varies with each level, size of class, and more. My approach is as follows:

• Reiki I: 8 classroom hours + brief homework
• Reiki II: 8 classroom hours + 1 hr homework
• Reiki Master: 12-14 hours + 2-6 hrs homework
• Master Teacher: 12 hours + 8-48 hrs homework

Each teacher offers a unique curriculum. It is not uniform. Students gain the following:

• Comprehensive student manuals full of illustrations and color
• An intricate history and philosophy of Reiki
• Multiple attunements per level
• Access to the sacred Reiki Symbols from Reiki II onwards
• Engaging group discussions
• Hands-on guided practice sessions
• Techniques for meditation and its practice
• Education on chakras, basic to advanced
• Strategies for cross-applying Reiki to other forms of energy work
• Personalized support from your Sensei
• Homework to refine your Reiki techniques and study the provided manual
• A legal, framable certificate upon completing each level

Advanced Training

In the advanced levels, I cover more than 11 additional Reiki techniques, specialized master meditations, and comprehensive hands-on skills. At the Teacher level, students receive three more textbooks and instruction on passing five unique attunements, alongside expansive opportunities for self-healing. While teaching isn’t required post-certification, it can be a lifelong professional income for you.

Special Programs and Age Guidelines

• Private lessons for Reiki certification tailored to your group’s needs are offered upon request.
• I offer special Reiki I certification courses for children ages 6-1, in a parent-child team format, including kid-friendly materials and a Reiki Teddy Bear.
• For adult/teen studies, Reiki I and II are open to individuals aged 13 and above, whereas the Master and Teacher levels are available for those age 18 and older.
